2024 League Champions
Division 1 Championship: Chelsea 14, Randolph 4
Our 2024 Champions The Chelsea Bat Company.
In perfect baseball weather, at the perfect baseball venue, the Randolph Jays and the Chelsea Bat Company faced off at the Montpelier Rec Field in the 2024 league championship game. The score was close for four innings. Chelsea then went on to score 6 runs in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and 4 in the 8th. Randolph did respond with 2 runs in the 9th,, clearly not enough to affect the outcome. In the end their convincing run production and strong pitching led to a Chelsea victory, 14-4..
Anecdotally, neither team had ever won the league title, Chelsea having once played for the title and lost. Also, fans witnessed a rarity as Chelsea, facing bases loaded and no outs in the 8th, completed a triple play to end the inning: 1 to 2 to 3 to 2!
Thanks to all our teams for a season of good games; to Williston for their 1st place finish in season play; to both Chelsea and Randolph for their finals appearance; and, a special acknowledgement to Chelsea for their 2024 Championship.
